Fun Dates Don’t Have to be Boring

A lot of people have the same dating cycle. All the time. Going out to dinner. Possibly doing a movie, but they are getting pretty expensive, so it’s more along the lines of streaming something at home. What ever happened to having a fun date, even if it’s at home?

I hear this all the time. So many callers say they are bored with their partner, because it’s the same-old same-old. Do something comfortable, but in a new way.

Create an Exotic, Fun Date in Your House

What country have you always wanted to visit, but can’t afford it? Is there a fond memory of some place you’ve been before, and you’d love to recreate it? That’s what I’m here for.

Here’s a list of countries that might be fun to “visit”.

  • China
  • England
  • India
  • Italy
  • France
  • Ireland
  • Kenya
  • Spain
  • Greece
  • France
  • Jamaica
  • Brazil

Let’s pick France, because that’s where I love.

To Do

Find a map on the internet showing France’s regions and print it out for decor. And while you’re at it, make a few things that look French, in pink and Tiffany blue (since that’s what the typical vision is).

Go to a party store, and see if you can find a large cut out of the Eiffel Tower. Because you are going to have a picnic there.

Here’s a few simple recipe ideas for your event. Look on the internet for food of the country, maybe here.

  • Croque Monsieur
  • Any kind of galette
  • Maybe a simple charcuterie board, because the French love their breads and cheeses
  • Quiche Lorraine
  • Ratatouille
  • Chocolate Mousse
  • Or at least something chocolate

Grab a French/English dictionary, and pick out some nicknames for each other, or phrases you want to use to remind each other of this night.

After you’ve eaten under the Eiffel Tower, it’s time for a movie. Don’t for get the popcorn and soda. Or go fully french and have petit-fours and wine.

  • Midnight in Paris (highly recommended)
  • Julie and Julia (if you are a foodie)
  • Moulin Rouge (if you want musicals)
  • Ratatouille (who doesn’t love a good cartoon?)
  • Chocolat (for those who want a bit risque)
  • Les Miserables (a classic)
  • Last Tango in Paris (it’s got Brando in it!)

What country would you like to visit from your living room?
