Call-in radio host Ashley Compton is Las Vegas’s new best friend. She gives on-the-fly, off-the-cuff, and blunt relationship advice to strangers calling the radio station. They love her. But when a repeat caller is found murdered after exposing her woes on the air, and accepts Ashley’s challenge to put up or shut up, the no-credentials guru questions if her homespun advice was the catalyst for murder.
Afraid of losing her job and destroying her reputation, Ashley heads to the seedy side of Las Vegas to snoop around. She’s watched Murder She Wrote multiple times, and reads every type of amateur sleuth mystery on the shelves. She knows what she’s doing. Or so she thinks.
There Ashley encounters a plethora of shady dealings: lies, gambling, adultery, secrets galore, and potential criminal activities on multiple fronts. When her two-timing and felonious suspects spout glib excuses to justify their questionable behaviors, she digs deeper. She gets threatened, yelled at, injured, and kicked out of establishments. To put the icing on the cake, she gets what she dishes out: advice she doesn’t always like.
Can Ashley’s sleuthing skills catch the killer? Or will she become just another crime statistic? Can she save her career? Or will she be put on the Do-Not-Call list?
